UPDATE 31 Aug 10 All we are getting close. I was out of country for a while so I apologize for not getting out an update before now. The important info is the deadlines. On the 23 of August we start to lose our block of discounted rooms. I hear a lot of talk about people going to attend BUT only 5 rooms have been reserved. So, stop the lip service and do something. I need all registration forms no later than 1 September. I can not plan food and services without accurate numbers. If the attendance does not increase significantly this will be the last year of organization. The registration form that was on the site had the zip code incorrect. The form has been changed. Those that sent it off with the wrong zip do not worry we are getting them. UPDATE 18 April 10 All, Some major changes to our event. As I put out in the last update we have changed the dates of the reunion. It is September 24th -26th. The next change is the location. Due to some scheduling issues with the hotel in Cherokee we could not find a suitable weekend for our event. This may have been a good thing. It forced me to find alternate locations. I believe the new location may be more suitable for us. It has a large outside deck, a bonfire area with some distance away from the buildings to accommodate our possible noise levels. They will allow us to cater our own food and drink. The cost is cheaper also, $62 plus tax a night. The hotel is in Pigeon Forge, TN. It is the Pigeon Forge Hotel. It is about 45 min to an hour north of Cherokee, NC. It is about 45 min south of Knoxville, TN. Attached is a web link and telephone number. They are ready to accept reservations at this time. Just tell them you are with the Chinook Reunion when you call. At the bottom of the page is a link for the registration form. Please fill out and mail with registration fee to Address. All, we have 39 registered at this time. The hotel will start releasing our block of rooms starting the 25th of Aug. If you are thinking about going reserve your room. You can cancel up to 4 days prior with no penalties. Check the list of registered page for names. If you do not see yours and plan to attend please let me know.
UPDATE 14 Aug 10
We looked for alternate locations in the area. We had some suggestions and researched them all. We can not find a single location to fulfill all of our requirements any better or cheaper than our previous location. Our main concern is to have our evening and night festivities in one spot so there is no reason for anyone to go out driving. So we will remain at the Holiday Inn. Now for the not so good news. Due to the economy we are not getting the sponsor support we have in the past. We may have to cut back on catered meals and or require more money per person to cover expenses. If we have no sponsors it would cost approximately $100 per person to have the same catered meals we had last year. That was Friday night hors d’oeuvres, Saturday breakfast and dinner, Sunday breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres. I need some feed back on what the group wants to do. Do we want to stop the catering and deal with meals on our own or collect money to cover? Or a variable of that? We can cut out some of the meals and there for the amount of money needed from each person. Please let me know what you think.
